Line Shafts

These shafts were made for a company in Northwest Indiana.

Specifications

Materials:

The shaft material was a forging of 4340 Pre-Hardened to 320 Brinnell. Bearing housings were made from a medium carbon plate burned to size.

Size:

The OD of the shaft is 8" x 23' long. The bearing boxes were machined from burned plate ranging from 6" to 12" thick. The shafts have keyways milled in various locations. The shafts were sent assembled, ready to be installed by the customer.

Quantities:

The order was for 2 pieces which we supplied to the customer. In addition to the shafts, we also machined and assembled 17 rolls that the shaft drives.

Hollow Shafts

These shafts were made for a company in the Chicago area.

Specifications

Materials:

The material was a 4340 Pre-Hardened to 320 Brinnell. The customer supplied us with a smooth forged, with stock to finish

Size:

The largest outside diameter is 14.96 inches, the smallest is 12.59. The largest bore is 9.55 inches, the smallest is 5.91 inches. The overall length is 27.95" long. The keyway is 2.48 inches wide x 11.93 inches long. There is also a 0.78 inch wide groove on the face with threaded holes and a snap ring groove on the od.

Quantities:

The order was for 80 pieces which we supplied one piece per day, as was required for the customer.

Shredder Rotor

Product Summary

This rotor was rebuilt for a company in the Chicago area. The shaft and spacer rings were reused to save time.

Scope of work

  1. Remove coupling and bearings from rotor
  2. Disassemble old plates and spacers from rotor
  3. Visually inspect shaft for any cracks in rotor shaft
  4. Reverse engineer and create prints for future use
  5. Hardface all 11 plates
  6. Bore holes in plates
  7. Mill key in plates
  8. Drill all holes using key as reference
  9. Inspect assembly
  10. Assemble and load on truck for customer
